How can we help you?

FAQs

Here are some frequently asked questions about Ayanda Tloti artworks. If you don’t see your question here, please feel free to email us at ayandatloti.studio@gmail.com.

1. How long does it take to create a custom artwork or drawing?

Each artwork is handmade and unique, so production time varies depending on size, detail, and medium.

  • Oil paintings require drying time, which depends on factors like humidity, temperature, and the amount of linseed oil used. Drying cannot be precisely measured because each painting behaves differently.

  • Drawings (pencil or charcoal) take less time but still require careful attention to detail.

  • While most artworks can’t be completed in 2–3 weeks, we will provide an estimated timeline when you place your order.

2. Can I request a specific size or style?

Yes! Custom artworks can be created to your preferred size and style. Please provide detailed instructions when ordering so we can capture your vision accurately.

3. Can I make changes to a custom artwork once it has started?

Minor adjustments may be possible early in the process. Once significant progress has been made, major changes may not be feasible. We’ll always communicate timelines and what’s possible before starting.

4. How are artworks packaged and shipped?

All artworks are carefully packaged to protect the frame, paint, and paper during shipping.

  • For orders within South Africa, large paintings can be delivered framed.

  • For international orders, artworks larger than A3 size are removed from their frames and shipped rolled in a protective cylinder to ensure safe transport. Clients will need to frame these larger paintings themselves upon receipt.

Smaller artworks and framed pieces are shipped with sturdy packaging and proper cushioning to minimize the risk of damage.

5. Are the shipping rates fixed?

Shipping rates are estimates and may change depending on the artwork’s size, weight, packaging, and destination. The final shipping cost will be confirmed via email before your order is processed.

6. I received an order confirmation email after submitting my artwork request. Does this mean my order is complete?
  • Not yet. The automated order confirmation email is sent by the website to acknowledge that your request or inquiry has been received. It does not include the final shipping cost and is not a finalized invoice.

  • A personalized invoice, which includes the exact cost of the artwork and shipping based on your location, will be sent to you by Ayanda Tloti personally. Your order is officially confirmed only after you receive and pay this invoice.

  • Once payment is received, you will also receive a tracking code for your shipment. This process ensures that shipping costs are accurate and that your artwork is delivered safely.

7. What should I do if my artwork arrives damaged?

Please contact us within 7 days of delivery with photos of the damage. We will work with you to repair, replace, or provide a partial refund.
For more information, please visit our see our Returns and Refunds page.

8. Can I return a custom artwork if I change my mind?

Because each piece is handmade and created to order, custom artworks and original paintings are non-refundable. Returns are only accepted in cases of damage during shipping or a production error.

9. How should I care for my artwork?
  • Oil paintings: Avoid direct sunlight and high-traffic areas. Clean gently with a soft brush or slightly damp cloth; do not scrub.

  • Drawings: Frame to prevent smudging. Avoid touching the paper directly as natural skin oils can leave marks.

For full care instructions, see our Product Care page.

10. Can I hang my painting outdoors?

No — oil paintings and drawings are intended for indoor display only. Exposure to sunlight, moisture, or extreme temperatures can damage the artwork.

11. How do I pay for a custom order?

We accept payments via the methods listed on our website at checkout. Payment is required at the time of ordering.

12. Can I commission a painting as a gift?

Absolutely! Please let us know if it’s a gift, and we can provide options for gift packaging and delivery.

13. How do I know my artwork will match my expectations?

We communicate closely with all clients during the planning stage. You can provide reference images, color preferences, or any inspiration. Every artwork is handmade, so slight variations are part of the unique charm of original art.

14. How do I track my order?

Once your artwork has shipped, you will receive a tracking number via email. Please note that shipping times may vary depending on location and courier service.

15. Can I visit your studio to see artworks in person?

Our studio is not open to the public, but you are welcome to contact us via email for any inquiries or requests for reference images of available works.
